Portfolio Example 2: Foreclosures in LA County

The genesis of this report was based on my desire to find investment properties in Southern California. The housing market isn’t great so trying to find something that maybe was recently listed as foreclosed seemed like a good idea, so I linked into data.gov again to see what was available in my area.

So as noted on the first example, the mapping capabilities are now disabled.

In this second example, I am demonstrating some of the same functionality as the first example, but for a different dataset. The mechanisms are very similar in that the data comes from data.gov, is utilizing a Dataflow for the main ETL processes and I have explicit measures used where needed for calculations.

What I have learned so far is that this information isn’t updated that frequently and therefore has limited utility; however, I kept it online as another demonstration of how I can quickly build a meaningful report in a short period of time.
